Path to Presence
We hear a great deal about presence—about inhabiting the body, listening inward, sensing what is here.
For many of us, access to that inner landscape is not immediate. It may feel quiet, distant, or obscured by overwhelm, protection, or simply years of living at a distance from ourselves.
Presence is not something we can think our way into. It is a capacity we can begin to cultivate—slowly, through experience, and in relationship with the living world.
The Practice
Each gathering offers space to slow down and notice more. Through simple meditation practices, time with the horses and land, and opportunities for reflection, we begin to recognize what is happening within us.
Our four weeks follow a gradual, trauma-informed progression—from arriving and sensing, to allowing, discerning, attuning, and returning. There is no pressure to achieve a particular experience. The practice builds on what is already here, at a pace that respects each person's capacity.
THE INQUIRY
Six questions we will lean into.
What is presence, and how do we begin to inhabit the body?
What if we feel nothing or don’t understand what it is that we are experiencing?
How can we be with what is here without needing to change or avoid it?
How do we know when to move closer, when to step back and when to stay with sensation?
What becomes possible when we begin to listen and respond to the body?
How might presence become a foundation for healing and everyday life?
In the presence of the herd
The herd offers a living environment in which to explore presence—not through doing something with the horses, but through noticing what arises as we share space with them.
They are not here to perform, nor are we here to ask anything of them.
The horses move freely within their own world, sometimes close to us, sometimes at a distance. We may sit quietly in their presence, noticing what happens within ourselves. At other times, opportunities for more direct contact may arise, always guided by mutual respect.

YOUR HUMAN GUIDE
Peggy is a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, mindfulness meditation teacher, and nervous system educator whose work brings together contemplative practice, somatic awareness, relationship with horses, and the living world.
Her teaching is shaped as much by lived experience as by formal study. Over years of exploring somatic healing and contemplative practice, she has come to understand presence not as a technique, but as a capacity we cultivate—in ourselves and in relationship with the living world.
